The White House is all but declaring that Russia’s Vladimir Putin was behind the plane crash that killed the leader of the Wagner mercenary group. After the plane crash last week, President Biden said he wasn’t surprised by the news. And now, the White House is stopping just short of blaming the Kremlin. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said “the Kremlin has a long history of killing opponents.” When pressed by reporters, she said “it’s very clear what happened here.” In June, Yevgeny Prigozhin launched a brief rebellion against the Kremlin.
