VIRUS OUTBREAK-GLOBAL MARKETS

Download

BANGKOK (AP) – Global markets drop, spooked by tensions between China and the US over the origins of the virus pandemic.

VERBATIM:
Shares have taken a turn for the worse as tensions between the Trump administration and China over the origins and handling of the coronavirus pandemic rattle investors.

Benchmarks fell in London, Paris and Hong Kong, while India’s Sensex plunged nearly 6%.

Beijing has repeatedly pushed back on U.S. accusations that the outbreak was China’s fault. Markets in mainland China, Japan and Thailand were closed for holidays.

Stocks closed broadly lower on Wall Street on Friday after Amazon and other big companies reported disappointing results.
