President-elect Trump is standing by his choice for defense secretary. Trump said he still has confidence in Pete Hegseth, despite allegations of sexual misconduct and drunken misbehavior. Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he said he’s been told the former Fox host “does not have a drinking problem.” Trump also said he has no immediate plans to ask Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to step down before his term ends in 2028. But the president-elect said he’s ready to replace FBI Director Christopher Wray.
