Thune Warns Senate May Skip 4th Of July Break To Finish BBB

Senate Majority Leader John Thune [R-SD] is warning colleagues they’ll have to work through the 4th of July break unless they wrap up work on the Big Beautiful Bll by the end of the month. Republicans have been sounding optimistic they can achieve a compromise before June 27th, when they’re scheduled to break for their state work period. This week expected feature major breakthoughs as both the Finance and Agriculture committees hammer out language on soe of the bills most controversial issues. Republicans can afford to lose ony three votes. One already firmly notched in the “NO” column is fiscal hawk Senator Rand Paul, rejecting the bill over its four trillion dollar hike in the debt ceiling.
