GOP senators are breathing a sigh of relif now that Matt Gaetz (R-Fl)has withdrawn as President-elect Trump’s nominee for Attorney General. Gaetz has faced a blistering storm of criticism over the past several days over allegations of sexual misconduct. Several GOP senators say he faced an uphill climb getting the votes he needed for confirmation. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.)—the incoming chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee,—says Gaetz’s decision to withdraw is a “positive development”. In pulling out Gaetz acknowledged that the allegations had become a distraction.
