Senators Fear CR Leaves 2023 Ukraine Funding In Limbo
Some senators are voicing concerns new Ukraine funding could get left behind this year. Pro-Ukraine senators say now that a continuing resolution will avert the threat of a government shutdown into the new year, there’s no must-pass legislative vehicle onto which they can attach Ukraine funding. They say the president’s $105-BILLION request for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the US Border remains a priority. It faces opposition from several GOP lawmakers demanding the controversial Ukraine funding be separated from the more popular bill supporting Israel. Some House conservatives say they wont support either funding bill unless it includes funds to shore up the U.S. border with Mexico.
