Download

The Senate has passed a bill rejecting President Biden’s student debt relief plan. The 52-46 vote comes with help from Democrats Joe Manchin, and Jon tester, as well as Independent Kyrsten Sinema. Republicans argued the policy unfairly burdens taxpayer who paid off their own student loans, or never attended college. For the president , it’s a sharp rebuke from his own party in the Democrat controlled Senate, but he’s promised a veto and neither the House nor Senate will be able to muster the 2/3 majority needed to override.
