Senate Hearing To explore Need For AI Regulation, Privacy Law

A Senate panel this week will take a closer look at the privacy issues tied to the rise in Artificial Intelligence. The Senate Commerce committee says it will hold a hearing on Thursday to address concerns about how AI-in the words of a committee statement has “accelerated the need for a federal comprehensive privacy law,” The hearing comes amid growing pressure for Congress to pass such a law, as well as new AI rules. House Republicans rejected the Democrat lead effort earlier this year over concerns tover-burdensome regulations could hurt U.S. innovators and empower foreign competitors.
