The CDC is warning people not to kiss their pet turtles. The CDC says 26 people in 11 states have contracted salmonella after kissing their turtles. NINE had to be hospitalized. In an investigation notice the CDC says turtles with shells less than FOUR inches long are most likely to be sources of the illness. It warns “Don’t kiss or snuggle your turtle, and don’t eat or drink around it,” . The CDC says children under FIVE, those over 65, and people with weak immune system should not keep turtles as pets.
