The Pentagon has formally accepted a Boeing 747 from the government of Qatar. The jumbo jet is for President Trump to use as Air Force One. He has defended the gift as a way to save tax dollars and the Pentagon says the aircraft will be modified to “ensure proper security measures.” The gift of the plane has raised ethical and financial questions, including whether it’s a violation of the Constitution’s prohibition on foreign gifts. Republicans and MAGA leaders are among the critics who say Air Force One should not come from a foreign government.
