James Taylor “Honored” Despite Cancelled Performance At DNC
Singer James Taylor says he was honored to be invited to perform at the DNC, even though his performance had to be cut. The famed songwriter was scheduled to sing his 1971 hit “You’ve Got a Friend” accompanied by cellist Owen Young and singers Kenya Hathaway and Matthew Johnson. But convention officials said they had to make cuts because of the “raucous applause” that was interrupting speakers and prolonging the program. In a statement James told fans-quote-“sorry to disappoint. But a great and inspirational, quintessentially American moment. We were honored to be there.” Bob Agnew at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
