Israel’s president will address a joint session of Congress next month. Israeli president Isaac Herzog will address Congress on July 19th, as he’ll be in the U.S. to mark th 75th anniversary of Israel’s creation. Senate Majority leader Charles Schumer [D-NY] said he looks forward to welcoming Herzog to the Capitol and calls the invitation to address Congress “a testament to the decades of bipartisan and bicameral support for Israel that transcends party politics.” The honor comes amid rising violence between Palestinians and Israel, and in the wake of controverial new judicial reforms championed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netnyahu.
