Ron DeSantis received the endorsement of an influential Christian leader in Iowa this week. Bob Vander Plaats, who heads the Family Leader organization, threw his support behind the Florida governor. Vander Plaats is a well-known, pro-life evangelical and has endorsed the eventual winner in every GOP Iowa caucus since 2008. But none of those candidates became the Republican party’s presidential nominee. DeSantis also won the recent endorsement of Iowa’s popular governor. In response, Donald Trump’s campaign said neither endorsement will save DeSantis.
