Historic White House tree to be cut down
A historic tree will soon be cut down at the White House. It’s a southern magnolia that’s nearly two centuries old. The tree, which stands near the curved portico on the south side of the White House, is deteriorating and will be removed over safety concerns. President Trump said online that the tree will be cut down and replaced in the coming week. According to the National Park Service website, it’s believed that President Andrew Jackson brought the tree’s seeds from Tennessee.
