GOP Bill Would Force Timely Release Of Federal Student Aid Forms

Senate Republicans have introduced a bill to require that this year’s Federal Student Aid application forms be released in October. The forms typically go out in October, but lawmakers have expressed concerns after the Department of Education failed to release them util December of last year.  Republicans introduced a bill on Monday to require this year’s forms Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be released in October after the revamped applications’ botched rollout last academic GOP Senator bill Cassidy [R-LA] says another delay in the forms could cause an entire class of students to skip college since they don’t know if they can afford to go. He says the bill will hold Education Secretary Miguel Cardona accountable, and make sure the forms for the next school year go out on time.
