Federal student loan freeze is coming to an end
The three-year pause in repaying federal student loans is coming to an end. Since March 2020, borrowers have not had to make monthly loan payments. But the pandemic-era policy is ending in a few months. The Education Department says student loan interest will resume starting on September 1st and payments will be due starting in October. More than 40 million Americans owe money on their federal student loans and the typical monthly bill is about 350 dollars. The government says borrowers will be notified prior to the restarting of payments.
