Federal Reserve interest rate hikes likely to continue
The Federal Reserve is likely to continue raising interest rates. Even though Fed officials held off on raising interest rates earlier this month, Chairman Jerome Powell said “inflation pressures continue to run high” and the process of fighting inflation “has a long way to go.” He told Congress last week that a majority of Fed policymakers see two more quarter-point rate increases as likely by the end of the year. Powell said further increases are “a pretty good guess” of where the central bank is heading if the economy continues in its current direction.
