Federal judge rules mass HHS layoffs as unlawful
A judge has ruled against the Trump administration’s job cuts at the Department of Health and Human Services. A federal judge said the mass layoffs at HHS were likely unlawful and ordered the Trump administration to halt plans to downsize and reorganize the nation’s health workforce. A preliminary injunction was granted to a coalition of attorneys general from 19 states and the District of Columbia. Judge Melissa Dubose said the states had shown “irreparable harm,” from the 10-thousand layoffs and were likely to prevail in their claims that “HHS’s action was both arbitrary and capricious.”
