Federal judge blocks Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship
A federal judge has temporarily blocked President Trump’s executive order ending the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship. After hearing arguments in a case brought by the states of Washington, Arizona, Illinois and Oregon, the judge said the president’s executive order was “blatantly unconstitutional.” The four states argued that the 14th Amendment and Supreme Court case law have cemented birthright citizenship. The executive order would bar citizenship to any babies born in the U-S to parents who are in the country illegally.
