CDC Launches New Program To Combat Deadly Sepsis In Hospitals

The CDC says it’s “ Hospital Sepsis Program Core Elements will act as a “managers’s guide” on how to organize staff and  find the needed resources to bring sepsis rates down. The initiative was sparked by new data that  finds a THIRD of patient who die in U.S. hospitals had sepsis while hospitalized. Sepsis occurs when the body’s immune system responds in an extreme way to infection, and can damage tissue and organs.
