The Senate has voted to advance former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum one step closer to confirmation as Interior Secretary. Burgum appears headed confirmation after passing cloture on a vote of 78-20, far more than the 60 he needed to advance. His nomination cleared the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources by an 18-2 vote last week. He also enjoyed a ringing endorsement from the NRA. His final confirmation vote is expected Thursday night.
