Athletics right-hander Jose Leclerc underwent surgery on his pitching shoulder Wednesday, according to the team.

Dr. Keith Meister performed the surgery in Arlington, Texas, after Leclerc was shut down for the season on July 25. He was on the injured list since late April.

Leclerc, 31, went 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Athletics this season. He struck out eight batters over nine innings after signing a one-year, $10 million contract in January.

Overall, Leclerc is 12-21 with a 3.34 ERA and 41 saves in 360 career appearances (three starts) with the Texas Rangers (2016-24) and Athletics.

The A’s also recalled Tyler Ferguson from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned fellow right-hander Eduarniel Nunez to the same affiliate.

Ferguson, 31, is 2-2 with a 6.69 ERA in 36 games this season. He has a 4.90 ERA in 84 career relief appearances for the A’s over the past two seasons.

Nunez, 26, had a 19.29 ERA in two appearances since being acquired in a trade with the San Diego Padres at the trading deadline. He had a 3.86 ERA in four appearances with the Padres before the trade.
