Jordyn Jackson, a five-star forward in the 2026 class, committed to Maryland women’s basketball program on Saturday.

Jackson plays at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 5 player at her position and No. 16 overall.

She chose Maryland over a field that included Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, South Carolina and TCU out of her desire to play near her home.

“I just think they’re the perfect fit for me and I wanted to stay close to home,” Jackson said, per 247Sports. “I think Coach Brenda (Frese) has done a really good job developing players in my position, and I believe she’ll help me achieve the goals I want to reach.”

The Terrapins were 25-8 in the 2024-25 season and reached the Sweet 16, where they lost to South Carolina.

“Winning was very important,” Jackson said. “They’re always in the tournament. They’re a winning program, one of the best in women’s basketball, and I’m really grateful to be going there.”

And she’s elated her family can watch her play.

“It means a lot to me and my family,” the 6-foot-1 player said. “Knowing they can come watch me play anytime, that was huge. I grew up going to games and now they’ll be coming to see me play in them.”
