Senator Lindsey Graham [R-SC] says he sees some room for compromise on the issue of ‘qualified immunity’ for police officers, in the wake of the police killing of Tyre Nichols in Memphis. Senator Graham took to twitter to address the controversial policy that offers broad protections for officers from liabilities in civil lawsuits. “ “I oppose civil lawsuits against individual officers,” he tweets, but “ holding police departments accountable makes sense and they should face liability for the misconduct of their officers.”
