Pentagon tracking Chinese balloon flying over U.S.
The Pentagon is rejecting China’s claim that a high-altitude balloon flying over the U-S is gathering weather data. Defense Department officials rejected China’s statement that the balloon had blown off course and was not being used for surveillance. The White House says President Biden was first briefed on the balloon on Tuesday, and accepted the military’s recommendation not to shoot it down. Secretary of State Blinken abruptly canceled a planned trip to Beijing, a decision supported by the White House.
